We all get hung up in the hustle bustle of everyday happenings.  Our lives are busy and we are constantly on the run dealing with our children, errands, work related tasks, and all the other unplanned things that come up throughout the day.  We all know being on the run all day can be quite draining and then once we get home and take a look at the house, being drained turns into being drained and overwhelmed.    You didn’t realize it was this bad, now for list of what has to be done:

  • Clean Kitchen – Do dishes, sweep and mop floor, take out trash, wipe down walls and clean windows
  • Clean and dirty laundry are commingle in piles all over the house
  • There are stacks a piles of papers everywhere
  • Objects all over the place
  • The trash needs to be taken out

There is so much to do; now you begin to feel overwhelmed.  After you look around and see what you have to do, you decide that you can’t deal with it now.  You are tired and just want to go to bed!

These feelings are not going to change or go away until you fix the problem.  You know you have a problem with clutter and maintaining a clean house, so now you need to come up with a solution to the problem.

Here are some ideas as to why you are so resistant to eliminating clutter and maintaining a clean house.

  • You have too much going on in your life and not enough time to accomplish everything.  Dealing with house hold duties in low on your list of priorities.
  • The clutter does not bother you because you know what is in each stack or pile, but the dirty dishes do.
  • It does not bother you at all; you can find what you need.
  • You are trying to prove a point to your family to pick and clean up behind themselves, only one problem, you can’t stand it anymore.

These are only a few reasons but you need to come up with a plan to fix it.  You may be embarrassed to have friends and family over because of the way your house looks.  Worrying about how you are going to accomplish getting your house cleaned and eliminating the clutter can stress you out.  If you haven’t cleaned up the house there has got to be a lot of dust and germs floating around, so a dirty house can cause health problems too.  Now, whether you can live with the clutter or not does not matter when it becomes a health issue you have to fix the problem.

Here are some suggested solutions on how to fix the problem:

This is easy to remedy, assign tasks to family members so they can assist you and complete the tasks throughout the week.  This will help you to get everything done and you can still maintain your busy schedule.

If you have bugs and pests in your home, you seriously need to consider a thorough cleaning and tidying.  There are many housekeeping agencies out there that will send you someone.  If you want to hire an individual ask your friends and family for a referral.  You can check Craigslist or any local papers you may get such, as the “Penny Saver” or whatever else may be out there.

So the clutter does not bother you, but the dirty dishes do.  You need to do the dishes, assign the task to a family member or hire someone to do the housework for you.  You say the clutter does n0t bother you because you know what is in the stacks and piles.  You need to take a look at why the dishes and a dirty house bother you and the clutter does not.  Why being surrounded by clutter and it does not matter to you, could be symptoms of a deeper problem you may have.  I suggest you investigate; you may need to get help with this issue.

I foresee this being a problem if you don’t get help.  By not getting rid of the clutter and by living in house where the cleaning duties are not being maintained, you are going to run into health issues.  If the clutter gets too bad it is also an issue because it becomes very dangerous.  In the event of fire, all that paper will just fuel the fire.  Too much clutter attracts rodents and bugs, which not only presents a dangerous environmental issue, but at health issue to.  Now you will face the chances of someone filing criminal charges if the issue gets too out of control.  You need to seek help from a skilled health professional, family members and outside vendors to get the problem resolved and rid of all the clutter.

You are trying to prove a point to your family to pick and clean up behind themselves, only one problem, you can’t stand it anymore.

You need to sit down and have a talk with your family, explain what you did.  Let them know that you were by letting the house become a mess, because you were hoping they would take a hint or get the message to start picking up after themselves but it didn’t work.  Let them know that you can’t continue to pick up after them and clean and maintain everything you need to in the house.  If they don’t want to help out then you need to hire someone to assist you.

Make sure you get the proper help you need whether its help from a health care professional or a housekeeping service, you need to make sure you get some assistance.  It is important that you think about you and removing stress from your life.  The goal is for you to keep your house clutter free and make sure it is clean and well maintained.  Learning how to eliminate clutter is a great new skill to learn.  If you can’t keep your house clean and well maintained by yourself or can’t get the assistance needed from family members, then you need to hire someone to help you out.

Don’t think you have to do this all on your own, you can ask for help!
