Having Containers Doesn’t Make You Organized!

Storage ContainersWatching hoarders the other night there was a woman on who had mountains of containers. She said she likes things organized, but the house was just filled to the brim with containers. This is not organization. I repeat: This Is Not Organization!

In my experience I have seen hoarders with containers and organizing books. They always tell me that they want to get organized and have everything they need but don’t quite know how to implement the tools that they have bought. It doesn’t help if you never read it and put the principles in action. Also if you don’t use organizing tools correctly it won’t help you either.

Here are just some things to think about before you go out and buy anything to organize with:

  • It’s important to see what you need to contain first before you go out and get another organizing product or container. Assess your needs first. You may have what you already need.
  • It’s important to learn how to use the tool of choice that you get whether that be a book or storage container.
  • You can be addicted to organizing products. You also can still have a disorganized home. Don’t buy just for the sake of buying.
  • It’s important to get help from an expert

With these tips in mind I hope that you will take the time to plan what you will be using containers for and not to just  go out and buy some in bulk.
